Blech.

I'm crabby. First Blogger isn't letting me upload pics again. And I've managed to come down with "that virus" that's going around. Sore throat and chest, constant cough, and being permanently surrounded by a pile of nasty Kleenexes. Blech! The guys in the office here are yelling at me to GO HOME! I may just do that. I'm supposed to be in a breast-cancer snowmobile run fundraiser this weekend. All I can say is I'm not looking forward to the inside of my helmet by the time it's done. :o But I do have some interesting - even exciting - news to report. I got a phone call ther other day that an opening has come up to be part of an all women's delegation to go to BRAZIL! For two weeks! Now I do feel a little guilty about it, because the woman who dropped out happens to be a good friend of mine. Her mother has just been diagnosed with cancer of the brain, lungs and stomache. Apparently she's refusing treatment at this point and my fri

I am the QUEEN of geekdom; hands down! I love anything techie, and am always adding to my arsonal. So what's the latest and greatest? a GPS unit! OMG this thing is the coolest! As soon as I turned it on it knew where I was, it's such a smart little bunny. And then I pushed the "Where to" button, pressed "gas" and all these gas stations in my neighbourhood popped up. All I had to do was click on one of them and it would take me there. Ok, I still had to drive the car but it would tell me where to go. In a nice way. Jill (that's what they call the American female "voice") says "turn left at Forest Glade Drive" or whatever. I could also have the Australian bloke Lee or British Emily but I decided I'm not having a man's voice telling me where to go and what to do, and besides; Jill and I have been building a rapor; we keep going for rides just to play. And if you click on the pic you'll notice my little icon is a mo

Not a TOTAL write off, but...

Well my first ever knitting group meeting was (almost) a bust. It was supposed to meet from 6:30-8:00, I had emailed that I would be about an hour late and heard back that that wouldn't be a problem. Well I got there about 7ish and there was NO-ONE knitting in this coffee shop. I approached a table of women (because they were the only table of more than two people) and asked if they were the knitting group. Yes, it was a long-shot, it's not like anyone was knitting or anything yarn-related. Although there was a knit hat on top of someone's purse on the table. Anyway they looked at me like I had three heads when I asked, so I figured they needed clarification; "you know, a bunch of women with pointy sticks". Well that didn't turn them into my knitting group or anything so I skulked away. But I figured I was there anyway, maybe everyone else is just late. So I grabbed a coffee and a seat on a couch and pulled out the knitting. You know, as a flag to any
I think I mentioned in the last post how much I'm enjoying my class at the University. Well because I'm in the Women's Studies program I received an email the other day for... wait for it... Take Back the Knit! lol What can I say? I thought that was very clever, being this is the same group of women who organizes the local Take Back the Night and all. Anyway I've decided to go. It's tonight and even though I have a class I can catch the last hour or so. But I'm thinking that seeing as it's at a coffeeshop, and there's going to be knitting, and it's with a bunch of feminists who call knitting a political act, what better public debut to break out the Mother's Day Mug! Yeah, I'm thinking bringing your own mug would definitely be the environmentally correct thing to do here. ;)
Has it really been over three weeks since I've posted? Holy Hannah. So what have I been up to? Well I've survived another holiday season. Even managed to get most of the decorations down yesterday! lol I've gotten back into the workout routine. I've planned two more trips and booked one. And I had my first University class last night. Lots to talk about! I started right into it January 2. I was going to start January 1 but then I hooked up with my sister-in-law and the next thing you know the Bloody Ceasars were flowing and that shot THAT plan right out the window. Just as a point of information; Bloody Ceasars are absolutely delicious with a dill pickle instead of celery as a garnish. So I've been following a 1300 calorie a day diet with a 40/40/20 split (protein/carbs/fats). Then weight training MWF and cardio TThS with Sunday to recouperate. And have a glass of wine. 'Cause six days is long enough in any week to behave! lol This is all good beca
