Happy Labour Day!

DH and I did the annual labour day parade this morning. This is huge in our area, where all the union locals march down the riverfront and then join for speeches, hotdogs and a beer tent. Frankly it's amazing we made it this year because we just got home at 4am from a road trip to Tupolo Mississippi!

My brother and his wife recently moved down there and we're the first to make the trek down to visit. It took us 17 hours to get there including a two hour holdup at customs and a couple of meal breaks, but we made it home in just over 12 hours. Not bad for a day's visit! lol I couldn't get away for longer but we felt it was important to make the trip anyway.

I didn't see any armadillos, although DH did see one at the side of the road. Ok, it was a tail and a bit of armour. But I did see cotton fields (we don't grow cotton in Canada) and I even picked a couple of pieces of cotton to bring home and show the kids.

I didn't get any pics of the kudzu that you see growning everywhere, but it's downright scary how it takes over and suffocates everything. But to make the trip completely successful I found a liquor store on the way down that carries Cachaca, the Brazilian national drink that I haven't been able to find so far in Canada. Woohoo; it's Caipirinha time!

Wow you weren't too far from me! Well, actually about 8 hours, but relative to where you live you were close.

I went to Tupelo and Memphis about a year and a half ago on a road trip. Tupelo is a cute little town.

Hey lady! I'm going to be in Windsor over the weekend for a soccer tournament. Don't think I'll have much time, but are there any places of note that I should hit?
