Short and Sweet

I can't believe I haven't posted in two weeks! Life has been a little crazy lately. The bathroom is finally almost finished. I keep running into setbacks, but I am nothing if not determined! After all the bitching, blood sweat and tears the ceramic floor looks wonderful if I do say so myself. I've put in a granite countertop with an under-mount sink and got some fabulous taps to set it off. I'll have some pics soon, just as soon as I get some plumber's putty to finish the plumbing and varnish the moulding and nail it into place. And buy a new cabinet and hang it over the toilet. Oh yeah... and the towel rack. And anything else I've forgotten. Sheesh. I was in London on business last week and got to Lens Mill . What a cool store is that! I bought some fabric to cover the styrofoam blocking board I'm making and of course some sock yarn. I'm seriously considering some kind of 12 step program for sock yarn! And I don't want to leave without reporting th...

Stuck in First Gear

Well here we are a week later and I have no progress pics from the bathroom for you. I guess that would be because there's been absolutely no progress. I did finally go down there to vacuum up all the tile debris a couple of days ago and ended up knocking over a pail of cementy water all over the carpet, so I decided that the job just isn't quite ready for me yet. Maybe I'll adjust the belt tension on the wetsaw and have another go at it tonight. {sigh; or not} There is knitty-news though. Even an FO! I know, it doesn't seem like much but I finished the Jaywalkers. And I have to say that I'm glad I'm giving them away because I really don't like them. I don't know. Maybe my gauge is off a little, but they just don't fit nice and snug the way a good sock should. I think I just prefer a sock with some sort of ribbing in it to make it hug me back. Speaking of which, that pretty brown sock next to them is the Ribbed Lace Sock from Sensational Kn...

Renovations Schmenovations

The bathroom saga continues. And let me just say that the next time I say something along the lines of "I think I'll do a major renovation project myself", please feel free to slap me upside the head! Of course this was supposed to be DD's maiden project, but somehow the appeal wore off pretty quick for her and it's my baby now. This is my new ceiling fan. My new clean white quiet ceiling fan. Took me about 4 hours to install this puppy including wiring in new electrical wiring because what was there didn't work with the new unit (wasn't long enough). Which I had to do "blind" because I couldn't see a thing in that teeny hole up there. Yeah, I like to live on the edge. And the walls? Yup, that's purple all right. Or more specifically, "Lovely Lavender" (or is it "Lavender Lace?" I'm too lazy to go see). What can I say; the colour pallettes suggested that to go with the aweful blue of the shower stall. So ...
