Adding to my Library

The Gilmore sweater has come to a grinding halt as I've cast on to make a pair of socks (that clomping sound you hear is me jumping on the Jaywalker bandwagon). MIL was so happy with her Christmas socks that she wants another pair, and she has a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks. The yarn is Paton's Kroy Socks in Vista Sea. I absolutely love the colours, but it's not stripey as I expected. The colourways run in one or two inch segments. It's probably not the best choice to show off the zigzag of the pattern but it'll have to do.

Being the cheap bastard that I am I don't buy a lot of knitting books. I can find most of what I want online. But once in awhile it's nice to curl up with a real book and have it on hand for reference. I already have the Cool Girl's Guide to Knitting and Pursenalities (both gifts) as well as The New Knitting Stitch Library, so I went shopping online at Chapters for a nice sock book. I've ordered Sensational Knitted Socks, and since I wanted the free shipping I also ordered The Art of Fair Isle Knitting: History, Technique, Color, and Patterns, Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitter's Almanac and Knitting Without Tears. I really don't understand why people think I'm obsessive! But I did get the free shipping. ;)

I go through stages in grocery shopping where I'll keep buying the same thing, thinking I'm out or will need it. I once went through a canned pineapple phase. My husband liked it with his cottage cheese. Except I kept forgetting to buy the cottage cheese. And then I remembered to buy the cottage cheese but my husband still didn't eat the pineapple and finally i asked him why and he said he hates pineapple.

I'm tempted to jump on the jaywalker bandwagon too. Just as soon as I finish the other kazillion things I have going on :)

I'm . . jjjuuussttt about to cast on Jaywalker as well. They look interesting and I'm way too lazy to look for anything else.

Books are fabulous! The more the merrier! You can always get great ideas and use them for reference!

Hi Jacqui. Thanks for looking at my clothesline! I'm north and east of Toronto, and the weather was great for me on Monday. Rest of the week has been grey and dingy. Glad to see you aboard the Jaywalker bandwagon. I jumped a few days ago -- it'll be the fill-in project until the Knitting Olympics.

New Look 6735 - The Dedicated Post

Name That Bike!

I've decided my bike needs a name. I've been developing quite a relationship with it, and it seems too impersonal to just call it "the bike". So I need some help. Any ideas? Maybe Gretchen? or Gloria? Something else? Why don't I give you some background. I used to have a really hard time bike riding because of my rheumatoid arthritis. It's mostly in my wrists, and the conventional way of bike riding where you are leaning on the handlebars just put too much pressure on them. It was too painful. So about ten years ago Canadian Tire came out with the retro cruiser-style bike and I bought one. The cruiser has you sitting more upright without putting all your weight on your hands and wrists. The handlebars are curved back towards you in a much more comfortable position (my wrists don't really bend) that regular straight bars.
