Organizer's Unite!

There must be something tangible that floats in the air and infiltrates our lungs with the need to get organized when we rip off that last calendar page to a new year. Fed up with the mess and clutter that takes over our homes, we vow to turn over a new leaf with the new year. Kinda like everyone signing up for a new gym membership in January. I know I do it. Come on, admit it; you do it too. A return to sanity. Being able to find something that we set down an hour ago. Being able to greet someone at the door and not have to stand there in the freezing weather blocking the view of the "war zone". (at least it's been unseasonably warm here)

So I've been getting back to the Flylady basics. I was using that program last year but burned myself out by trying to do too much at once. (Who, me? Obsessive? Nooooo....) I'm planning my meals a month at a time and making grocery lists accordingly. I took that filthy area rug from the living room to the cleaners. And I've got most of the Christmas stuff put away. (yes, Virginia, there is still a Christmas tree in my family room in the middle of January) I've even been flossing, for Pete's sake! So this is the "before" pic of the family room. (thought I was kidding about the war zone?) I'll have to wait until there's an "after" moment to post an "after" pic. In other words I still have to clean. And take down that tree.

I also took DD shopping in the States the other night for a prom dress. Not only were we successful, but she looks like a princess in it! (you'll have to wait for the event for pics) Not to mention I managed to pick up three dresses for me for a cruise I'm going on next year. And finally got my fix of flaming cheese and margarita's at Mexican Town in Detroit. But all of this has drastically cut into my knitting time. Here's the progress shot of the Gilmore sweater Beta version. I'm loving how this Elann wool knits up; it feels nice in my hands. And I've been using the "spit splice" for the first time with this sweater. (No, I didn't actually use spit, silly. I used white wine of course! What the heck, it was handy, sitting there in a glass and all...) What a great technique; invisible joins! Woohoo!

I understand the organization bug! I am right there and FLYLADY-ing it. How shiny is your sink my friend?

I can relate to your war zone living room and also to a new years organization plan.

Looks like your Gilmore sweater is coming along nicely.

Hmm, white wine to spit splice? If I used wool, it would definately be incentive to switch from red wine!

Your room looks gorgeous Jacqui! I'm in the process of trying to get my house to a similar state - not having too much luck thus far! The kids are home and the sunshine calls each day, and then there's the knitting....
