One down, one to go... and a cutting table



Final exams, that is. Although I'm still wondering how it can be that I take two classes and BOTH final exams are on Saturday nights! At least I can see light at the end of the tunnel with only one more semester to go. I have to focus this week for my programming exam next Saturday because I really don't know this stuff but I'm just hoping for a pass in this class. Then I can crack the covers on my two new books and play with fabric and such until January :) Feel free to leave any comments on the books if you're familiar with them.

In other sewing stuff I finished the second pair of jammie pants out of the eyeball fabric. I made them an inch higher in the waist and longer in the legs. I also bypassed using ties at the waist instead just tightening up the elastic a bit. They are comfortable and look presentable. I may never wear regular pants on the weekends again! lol

So for eye candy this week I thought I'd share my improvised cutting table (sorry for the blurry pic but you get the idea). I normally use either my kitchen table or the floor for cutting out fabric. Neither one is ideal and I end up with a sore back (and or knees) in either scenario. I really need a countertop-height table to work on. So I dug up four large empty coffee cans and put them under the table legs. This was scathingly brilliant if I say so myself. The table was exactly countertop height and I was able to work away with no achy back. The problem is it is such a convenient height I don't want to take it off the coffee cans! lol Maybe I'll just say it's the latest in home decorating and leave them there. Hmmm...

Just change out your chairs for 'bar' stools and you'll be set! :D

New Look 6735 - The Dedicated Post

Holiday Knitting

I never did post a pic of the finished Christmas knitting. Yes, this is what took ALL that time to knit up (I must be a really slow knitter!). I've got two pairs of socks from Briggs and Little wool, an angora scarf, and the pièce de résistance, the Wallace and Grommit hat! DH asked me to buy the pattern (a child's sweater pattern) when I saw it on Ebay, but he doesn't wear sweaters. Then a couple of weeks before Christmas I had an ahah moment and used the pattern to make a hat. He's very proud and doesn't take it off for anything! Well, maybe when he takes a shower, but that's about it. Then DD wanted a body hugging sweater out of the never-ending cone of eyelash wool I picked up at the Spinrite tent sale. So I've been busy the last week making this for her.
